David Hughes / Saxophones & Flutes

DAVID HUGHES (saxes and flutes) is a Southern California native. He studied saxophone with Bill Greene, and flute with John Barcelona. David played in the Roger James Orchestra for 5 years and lived and played in England and Holland. He toured the South Pacific in 1982 including Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand. In 1985 David played at the Russian River jazz festival with Ritchie Cole and pianist Michel Petrucciani. He played baritone sax with the Buddy Rich band for 2 years, and with the Hal Willis 9-piece group. David continues, as a sideman and with his own group (David Hughes Quintet), to play in local clubs in the L.A. area including Vibrato, Jax, the Lighthouse, Steamers and Catalina Jazz Club.
